on the visit to observe practices of TICAC’s operation teams as their performances led to a significant increase of arrest on sexual assault cases in 2022 which are more that of 2015 – 2021 combined, which moved Thailand up to Tier 2 from the Tier 2 Watchlist in the United States 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report.

Pol.Gen.Surachate further explained that the reasons behind the increasing rate of arrest are based on successful integration with other law enforcement partners, skills enhancement trainings for practitioners, the re-structure of the operation teams in accordance with the Royal Thai Police’s structure. These are factors that prompt field officers to work more efficiently with better understanding of social and geographic conditions in each working area. Also, for the digital investigation officers, there are trainings that enhance their skills on digital forensics, significant to evidence gatherings, especially in cases of online pornography.
In the crime prevention facet, the Center has organized the DARE2CARE project, the train-the-trainer project that instructs the participating officers on self-protection guidelines against sexual harassment so that they can be special instructors in elementary schools nationwide. With this project, there are also animations suitable for kids and parents to learn how to avoid being victims of sexual crimes.(clips can be viewed at https://youtu.be/2Sb03ci5Yv4)
Further, Pol.Gen.Surachate also said that, regarding to labor trafficking, the Center has placed protocols to solve trafficking in the fishery industry by an intense inspection of every fishing boat and trafficking related to call-center scams that lure Thai nationals to work in the syndicates which require cooperation from neighboring countries.
