Pol.Lt.Gen.Surachate visited Singapore to participate in a joint meeting with Interpol to coordinate information, develop operational plans, and establish a coordination center to combat human trafficking in Thailand, aiming to enhance international cooperation in preventing and combating human trafficking on an international standard.

Today (29 May 2023) Pol.Lt.Gen.Surachate Hakparn, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and the Director of the Center for Child & Woman Protection, Anti-Human Trafficking, and Fishery, together with พ. FBI, attended a collaborative meeting to combat child exploitation and human trafficking between the Royal Thai Police and Interpol at the Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore with คุณสมิตา มิตรา และ คุณกอร์ดาน่า วูจิซิส, representatives from the Interpol’s Crimes Against Children Unit.

During the meeting, Pol.Lt.Gen.Surachate presented the results of the center’s efforts in law enforcement, including the arrest of human trafficking cases and cases related to online sexual exploitation of children. These efforts have been significantly impactful, and Thailand’s progress has been recognized and elevated to Tier 2 by the United States government.

Pol.Lt.Gen.Surachate expressed confidence that there are no call center networks operating within Thailand, as these networks are located in neighboring countries. The Royal Thai Police have assisted in repatriating approximately 1,700 victims of call center networks back to Thailand, with around 200 of them identified as victims of human trafficking. The remaining individuals were involved in the criminal activities. Therefore, the Royal Thai Police requested the issuance of Interpol Red Notices for those suspects so that Thai authorities will continue to investigate and apprehend these suspects for further prosecutions.
He further emphasized that this meeting provided an excellent opportunity to collaborate with Interpol in combating human trafficking, building upon the previous coordination between the Center, the Royal Thai Police, and Interpol in various areas. In this instance, he sought cooperation in exchanging information regarding offenders involved in the sexual exploitation of children who may have fled to Thailand, aiming to eradicate these criminal activities and enhance the capabilities of Thai law enforcement officers, who will continue to receive support from Interpol in the future. This collaboration aims to develop Thailand’s capacity to combat and prevent human trafficking in line with international standards.
